When the sun dips, the party's turning up. Some of our favorite venues around Bellingham are keeping the festival going with after parties that include films, live music, secret-special guests, psych rock bands, limited-edition beer releases and more. Black Mountain and Spoon Benders at Structures After Party

THURSDAY, JULY 10

Black Mountain & Spoon Benders

STRUCTURES OLD TOWN TAPROOM

8 PM Doors | 9 PM Show | 21+
$28 in Advance

Details: An outdoor evening of heavy psych, synth and sonic waves with Black Mountain (Vancouver, BC) and the Spoon Benders (Portland, OR).

The rock canon has many anti-heroes, Black Mountain being the latest. In the past, Can’s 'Tago Mago' established that the only rule in rock and roll is that there are no rules. Pink Floyd’s prodigious output in the 70s showed us that architecture can be cool, while unskilled laborers Black Sabbath demonstrated you can make a lot from not that much. Now Black Mountain teach us that you don’t have to be afraid of the past to move bravely into the future, defining what it is to be a classic rock band in the new millennium.

Spoon Benders Psychic Day Spa; the only pneumatic traveling psychic day spa endorsed by the Clinton Foundation; sound baths begin when the ear detects the end of the previous wave. Sine waves will be rendered sharp. Sharp psychic stabs in the brain keeping recall regular; 100% guaranteed total recall. Amps painted skyward to salute an oncoming deluge. Guitars scarring in the dirt; their strings dancing a syncopated new samba.
